Spiritual Accompaniment for
LGBTQ Catholics, former Catholics, and parents

Welcome! If you are seeking a safe place to explore your relationship with the Divine, your LGBTQ identity (or your child’s), and are a former, marginal, or practicing Catholic, The Welcome Table spiritual companionship ministry was created just for you. Here you will find the space and time to truly embrace God's infinite and unconditional love for you, communicate directly with the Creator, listen in silence to Their heart, and see the many ways in which God has been present and active in your daily life and relationships.

Come for healing, for peace, to practice being in the presence of the Divine, to discern next steps in your life, or to discover meaning in your journey with God and others.  You are cherished and known. Come to receive this blessing from the Gift-Giver alongside an attentive and prayerful spiritual companion.

Vicki Sheridan - Spiritual Companion

I am a Roman Catholic daily Mass participant with an MDiv, bisexual mother of three LGBTQ young adults, coordinator of an online LGBTQ Catholic community, an active contemplative, and a spiritual companion formed in the Benedictine tradition.

As a spiritual companion I strive to lean on God's grace and my gift for deep listening to assist you in recognizing, acknowledging, and articulating God's movement in your life.  The content of our conversation will be your relationship with God as manifested in your prayer practices, relationships, and the events of your daily life.  This kind of spiritual conversation differs significantly from pastoral counseling or catechetical instruction, and does not center on the wisdom or experiences of the spiritual companion.  Each session allows participants an opportunity to explore in freedom and safety their direct experience of the Divine.

What is spiritual companionship?

“We define Christian spiritual direction as help given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship.”

William A. Barry, SJ and William J. Connolly, SJ, The Practice of Spiritual Direction

What will we talk about?

*Your prayer life and how you notice God’s presence in your daily life experiences and relationships.

*Areas in your life where you wish to do some discerning or seek a greater sense of peace and inner freedom.

What is the role of a directee?

I invite you to come as you are and be yourself. We’ll trust the Spirit to guide our sessions together. I ask that you arrive to our meetings on time, and if you are not able to meet, please notify me at least 24 hours before an appointment.

What is the responsibility of a director?

My role is to be a contemplative presence to you and your story, to help you perceive God’s movement in your daily life and respond to God prayerfully. God is the true director, and my role is to be a companion on your journey. I will not give advice, nor am I qualified as a therapist. I promise to maintain confidentiality, except for circumstances I am required by law to report: persons becoming a danger to themselves or others, or in cases of child or elder abuse.

“After initially feeling hesitant toward spiritual direction, my first session with Vicki exceeded my expectations. She allows the Spirit to truly be the guide for each meeting. Throughout our time together, I learned new things about my self and discovered new ways to connect with God that felt personal and applicable to my daily prayer life.” Maggie K.

“Vicki is a compassionate listener and gentle guide.  She helps me to be open to the Spirit's movement and travels the path beside me.  Having her as a spiritual companion has allowed God to soften my heart. Highly recommend.” Lynn B.
